~ available 26 July 2010
As a police detective aboard the generational starship Lažna Zora, it's Galen Traub's job to investigate when someone goes missing. He never expected that someone to be his husband, Dayan. Who would have taken him and why? And why is there no ransom demand? Reviewing the security cameras' recordings, Dayan's disappearance becomes a greater mystery: how does a person vanish from an interior corridor where there are neither doors, nor windows, nor so much as an engineering access hatch?
While his husband searches for him, Dayan Andrus is trapped in a nightmare. He is being forced to relive events from his past while his mysterious kidnappers collect data derived from his memories. Not all the memories are bad ones; they run the gamut from arousing to terrifying, from disappointing to delicious. But while Dayan lives inside his manipulated mind, his body is without food or water, strapped to a chair, captive. Under such conditions, it's only a matter of time before he's driven over the edge both mentally and physically.
